Editorial Reviews

High energy Latin Jazz and Salsa with Latin Jazz violinist Susie Hansen, accompanied by some of Los Angeles' finest musicians. Hansen and her talented musicians have created an invigorating and appealing sound that brings audiences to their feet, dancing in the aisles. Their interpretations of the music on this CD are respectful to the Afro-Cuban roots of Salsa, while fulfilling the jazz expectations of the Latin Jazz lover. CD includes original music by Susie Hansen and David Stout.

Susie Hansen & Her Latin Band play specificly for salsa dancers, thier music is for dancing, however they play Latin jazz and salsa music. The music is jazz, and is meant for salsa dancing. She plays mambos, cha cha cha's, and others. In concert she plays more merengues and cumbia's, but her albums feature more jazz solos, and Salsa oriented music. This cd has an exellent original "Es Muytarde" and es perfecto! Hansen plays Latin jazz violen, and is the only gringa in the band, the rest of her band members are from Mexico and various other countries in South America(several from Cuba). A great cd!

Exellent salsa cd for dancers or latin jazz lovers!!!

As I heard on an interview with Suzy on 88.1, she mentioned that Salsa has it's roots in jazz and big band, and it is evident in her cd's that she feels strongly about not taking the jazz content from salsa dance music. So the music on thsi cd is certianly perfect for salsa dancing(I am a Salsa dancer myself), however there are plenty of hot horn solos, and electric violen solos(Suzy's intrument). The music swigns, and the tempos are perfect for dancing. Great creative latin jazz, that is perfect for daning. A perfectly done salsa cd!

Violin and Latin Jazz

The newer album of Susie Hansen called 'The Salsa Never Ends' had at least two hits in the Salsa dance scene, both in the USA and Europe. So I was really interested in her previous work. This album is more Latin Jazz and a nice album for listening. The combination of Violin and Latin Jazz/Salsa is something you do not hear often. I would though appreciate a bit more dancable songs.

Her music is great! When my brother introduced me to her music, i doubted, i have to admit - a violin? But, incredibly, she's wonderful - you'd think she was born and raised in Cuba! Her sound is classic latin. We try to catch her live whenever we can!! So when can we expect another one Susie??? You've kept us waiting much too long!!
